Job Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and hardworking Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. As a Commis Chef, you will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes while learning from senior chefs in a professional and supportive environment. This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates passionate about cooking and eager to grow within the culinary world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with basic food preparation (chopping, peeling, marinating, mixing, etc.)
  • Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie or other senior kitchen staff
  • Set up and stock workstations with necessary supplies and ingredients
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your work area at all times
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO system)
  • Support the kitchen team in preparing ingredients for service and mise en place
  • Assist in plating and garnishing dishes under supervision
  • Comply with hygiene, sanitation, and health & safety standards (HACCP)
  • Learn and absorb kitchen techniques, recipes, and best practices from senior chefs
  • Help with cleaning duties and kitchen closing procedures as required

Qualifications:

  • Basic culinary training or diploma is a plus
  • Previous kitchen experience is an advantage but not mandatory
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a professional kitchen
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Flexible and willing to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene standards
